To qualify for the ranking, the school must must currently be listed as part of the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/sites.ed.gov\/whhbcu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">White House and U.S. Department of Education&#8217;s Initiative<\/a>&nbsp;on Advancing Educational Equity, Excellence, and Economic Opportunity through Historically Black Colleges and Universities to be included in U.S. News&#8217; HBCU ranking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The HBCU must also be an undergraduate baccalaureate-granting institution that enrolls primarily first-year, first-time students and must be a school that is part of the 2024&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.usnews.com\/best-colleges\">Best Colleges<\/a>&nbsp;rankings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The U.S. News rankings system rests on two pillars: quantitative and qualitative measures that education experts have proposed as reliable indicators of academic quality, and U.S. News\u2019 view of what matters in education.
